Queen’s Castle

The Ask:

Anchor Entertainment is currently in production for a new documentary about women and chess. They needed a deck to tell their story, fundraise and gain interest. I helped create a cohesive voice and visual identity.

  • I built an identity around the tension between the quiet, classic discipline of chess set against the bold energy of girls who refuse to play by the expected rules.

The logo uses elegant, traditional typography softened with feminine curves, creating a refined surface that contrasts the film’s unexpected scenes of young players dominating game after game.

  • The palette blends refinement with rebellion. Soft blush tones meet a deep forest green and charcoal, creating a modern, cinematic atmosphere that feels grounded and unexpected. Gold acts as the anchor, reinforcing excellence and elevating the brand without leaning on the typical chess clichés of red, primary colors, or stark black-and-white. Together, these hues mirror the film’s mood: graceful, confident, and quietly disruptive.
