I’ve been writing songs since I was a kid. Not playing an instrument, mind you, just singing and making up lyrics and singing some more. Sometimes I solve creative briefs with songwriting. Sometimes, I just make up songs for me. Either way, it’s something inside me that I have to get out.

When I wrote about Five, I didn’t just write the words, I heard them. And since no one can hear what’s in my head, I had to get it out of my head and put it out on Spotify. Because sometimes, you just need a little high five.

I thought it’d be funny if these four heads could be in a band and one wanted to quit and go solo, like real-life band drama. But he couldn’t actually leave because not only is he an integral part of the band, but also completely connected to the band physically. And for some reason, they sounded folksy. Don’t mind that they sing off-key, I mean, they don’t have any ears, ya know?! So, there ya have it! A Band of Fourheads, not be confused with foreheads.

What if you were literally attached to your best buddies but one of them frequently gets a severe case of halitosis? What do you do? I contemplate that very question with a bit of punk rock you can also hear on Spotify.

This random doodle looked to me like he was hiding something. I channeled Vincent Gallo’s character, Billy Brown, from Buffalo 66. A sly guy who may find himself needing something and going in and taking it. Add this baby to your Spotify playlist and channel anyone else you desire.

I wrote a theme song on the way to meet Donny to record a theme song.

Demos in varying stages…possibly induced by whiskey

A lullaby my husband and I wrote and recorded two weeks before our baby was born…and who ended up being born in August.

I imagined this being a good demo for a teen angst scene.

This is about the time I met my husband for a Medeski, Martin & Wood show at The Whitney Museum during a crazy storm.

I don’t really know what this is about, but it was sparked from the four haunting piano notes and drinking whiskey in a dark room.

Voice memo recording, working it out. I wrote this while sitting on a bench in Thompkins Square Park. I first recorded it as a rock song and then reimagined it, many years later. It still needs a lot of work. One day…we’ll get back in the studio with it…
